WOW

Hello blog.... so sorry I forgot you. I can not believe it has been almost a year since I last wrote. Lets see.... catch up time, but cant be too boring.
I left off last raising a lot of money for BIKE MS. THAT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!!!! I was top fundraiser for the event that was held in August, on the island of Hawaii, or The Big Island. I rode 115 miles in two days on a bike in support of MS. It was AWESOME and something I will one day do again in honor of my Aunt :)
My kiddos ended their school year last year in May, we had company for a week and then headed home to the mainland for about a month. While we were home we went to Atlanta, VA, South Carolina, back to Atlanta, then out to Arizona for Fourth of July. With in a few weeks of coming home, daddy came home too!!!! We became our party of four again!!!! So exciting, military homecomings, now of course the sad part of ones homecoming is another one does unusually leave.

During our trip home to the mainland and before hubs came home from his deployment, I started selling Scentsy. So I have two kids, crafts I am working on, fundraising for MS, and a deployed husband..... I didn't think I was busy enough, so I wanted to sell Scentsy also LMAO.

Okay let me try to stop jumping all over the place here..... hubby came home in July, a week after he got home, I went from Oahu to the Big Island, rode the bike, then I came home for about four days and then we packed up, sans kids and flew to Vegas. Hubs bought a Harley while he was deployed and we had to go pick it up(sign for it) and then it would get shipped to Hawaii. So we took the trip to spend time together :) We also got very lucky to have our friends from Arizona drive out to meet us and spend the weekend with us. We had a great time!!!
After that fun trip, it was business as usual, the kids had already gone back to school, hubs went back to work, which meant he was gone again (just short trips). I continued to grow my Scentsy business and have enjoyed that every step of the way!!!

We spent the holidays together as a family, which was very nice since the past year had just been the party of three. We had company at Christmas, hubs bf came out to see us. Right after the New Year, hubs had to leave for the mainland for 6 weeks!! BOO.... but then he made it home in time to help me with the next MS Event I was working on... this years walk.... I not only raised money, but helped plan the event. He was a great help in all of this with ideas and strong arms. We got to visit with my other mom and her kids (yes that would make them my siblings) It was a great time seeing them..... all the way over here in Hawaii :)
So this actually all brings us up to March. Last year I won FREE two round trip tickets, inter island flights, at the BIKE MS event.... so Hubs and I planned a small trip to Maui!!! once again.... Sans kids.
But the trip to Maui was after our baby..... not so much a baby anymore, turned 9!!!! We had a great cook out to celebrate his life with amazing friends. On his actual birthday he was treated to Laser tag and dinner :)

SOOOOO Maui, for four days with just my hubby was AWESOME.... I had a great friend who kept my boys for me and left me worry free the whole time. We went snorkeling, whale watching, driving, eating and drinking!!! It was so relaxing. We missed our boys very much and were very happy to come home to them though.

I look forward to many new things that will be happening for us this year. The kids just started spring break and this is the last one in Hawaii..... so we will try to make it count :) Our oldest is turning 13 in 2 months, which is sad and joyous at the same time. Within the next couple of months, we will be finding out where the Army is sending us. Then in Nov, we will celebrate 10 years of marriage.
2011 is looking at being a great year. Oh I almost forgot to top it off, I might be home just in time for my nieces first birthday.... I hope so... I really do, I have missed everything and I don't want to miss that!!!!

life is busy

Where has the time gone, already the end of April. WOW!
I have been busy trying to raise money for BIKE MS, I signed up for this not even a full month ago and have put all of my free time into it.
I started a new blog to follow my team training and fundraising. We are off to a GREAT start.
I have been crafting away lately and making things to sell. I am hoping to get an etsy page going this week with a lot of the crafts that I am making. I have had 3 paid baby gifts already. Two of the 3 are done and one will be made as soon as the new fabric is here. Today I found the BEST fabric to make gifts for my sister..... SO EXCITED about making that gift!
I am also excited over my new nephew being born soon, not my sisters baby, but my brother in law is expecting a little boy, Jaiyden, almost any day now!!!! The mom actually did start some contractions today, but it is a little too early for little man to arrive. I hope the doctors got labor under control and Jaiyden stays in just for a little while longer.
I am also getting ready for Kyle's birthday this weekend, he will be 12 this year.... I am lost on where all of the time has gone!!! I can not believe that 12 years ago I was pregnant with him.
Life being busy is good right now, lets hope the next three months keep going this fast!!!

Thinking

I have a little too much time to think lately.
One good thing I am thinking about is starting a website to sell my little stuff on. I am trying to figure out what site I want to sell on, how much I want to charge and what all I want to make to sell. These are hard choices to make. I had a friend contact me today and asked me to make a diaper caddy for a gift for her to give, this is officially my second paid one. The first one was asked by a neighbor, after I made hers as a gift LOL. I am so excited, but I want to make it affordable as a gift. My friend lives in VA and now while I will pay to ship the ones I make as gifts (since they are my gift I am giving) then I am okay with shipping out of Hawaii, but I have a hard time wanting to sell somethings that will cost more to ship then to make. I am wondering if I just sell the cover, if people would be okay getting the bucket on their own?!?!? It would save them a lot of money as well as me money.... mmm.... tough ones to think about.
I love making the stuff that I make, I just don't know how to set it up to sell it, plus I am hard on myself about how much to charge when I look at things and see mistakes and things that are not perfect.
The other things I have had on my mind are way to much to share publicly, there are a few people, very very few and actually by a few I really mean 3 LOL, that know what it is I am thinking and pondering about. I think I will just put my head into crafts and sewing and get some joy out of the gifts that will be made and given soon!!!!

Lost In Life

It has been over a month since I have even thought about my blog. I guess sometimes that is good, when your life has more going on in it, that you dont have time to sit and write. But on the other hand, a blog is a great outlet, even with happiness.
So in the past month, Alex turned 8, we had spring break, I turned 29, and we are 30 days closer to Mike coming home in July.
Finally the Army figured out the who, what, where and why. We know who is going over to replace Mike, we know about when they will be there, so it keeps everything on target for him to return home on time. After his R&R, we had no idea when he would be home. I know things will change five more times, but it can only change so much from here.
Honestly things changing is the worst part of the military. I think in a military family we all come to terms with the begin apart, we all have a clue what will happen when military comes into your life. But honestly that never makes it easier. It is never easier to kiss someone goodbye and not know what day you will see them next. I am not talking about harm or death, I am just talking about missions and the job. From day to day even when there is not a deployment, so many things can happen and Mike might not come home from work. He has left many of mornings and called me in the middle of the day to tell me he will see me in 3 days, they are leaving in an hour. Also many days where he is due to come home and calls me that morning or the day before to tell me it will be 2 more days.
Lately I have heard more and more BS about military and spouses and FREEBIES...... I wish life was the way the few of the world see it. I might be a stay at home mom right now, but it is not peaches and cream, there are no bon bons and daytime tv for me, I do not stand at the corner and talk with all of my neighbors for hours. I am a stay at home mom, because the army told us we had to move, I left two jobs in my profession. I went to school for two years and worked my butt off, I had two jobs that paid very well and then I moved to wonderful beautiful Hawaii, to be jobless and have a deployed husband. I have student loans to still pay off, I got no extra money to help me go to school(no freebies or handouts). This was out first move, so I never understood it, it is not easy to get the education to get the profession to get the job to keep the job if you move every 3 years or so.
The move was nice, the change was nice, OMG, I live in Hawaii, it is beautiful here, but we have one car, do not own a house, the price of gas and milk make you want to cry. Everyday I wake up and I take care of the kids, I mow the grass (well not everyday on that one) I cook, I clean, I pay the bills, I run the errands, I make time for the kids times two, I do the mom stuff with them and the dad stuff with them. I think my biggest is there is no me time. While my kids are in school, I do get to maybe go here and there, but I always have to stay within a certain area, and always watch the time. If something happens to the kids at school, I have to be able to go get them.
Anyway I guess I am just missing Mike right now and I know the boys can not wait for their daddy to come home.
We are going home to visit very soon and I cant wait to see friends and family...... then we are only a year and a half away from being back on the mainland, to jobs for me and maybe no deployments, at least for a year I hope.

The wheels are turning

So today was a pretty productive day....... I was sure it was going to be lazy, I wanted it to be lazy, but once it was going that was all it took.
I got to catch up with a friend on the phone..... that was hours spent on the phone.... but I loved every minute of it.
While we talked, I finished two wipe cases, designed a onesie print, cut out part of Alex's hat project with my Cricut :), then we got off the phone LOL
I did manage to cook my kids dinner and then I made a few patterns for projects that I plan on making, made a project list ( so that I actually finish somethings before I start a million more new ones), made a shopping list and even helped Alex with his homework so that it got done quickly.

Now that I have a project list of what is going to be worked on..... my wheels are TURNING!!!! I am so excited to make a lot of the stuff on my list......

Tomorrow night we have to put his Abe hat together for a Hat Project, they had to make a hat based off a book that they read, he read Abe Lincoln's Hat (fitting I know)
So tonight he wrote the summary of it and I cut out the rim of the hat.... I will have to post pictures of this.... and tomorrow, Alex will roll paper together and tape it to the rim, then on the inside of the hat, Lincoln kept papers and letters, so Alex is going to make sure those are in the hat as well.
Also tomorrow we have to make cookies, he has another project due Friday, Family Favorite Recipes. He had to write down the recipe (a lot of writing for a 2nd grader) and then he has to tell why it is a family favorite and then make it and bring it into class to share..... thank goodness his favorite was cookies LOL

in just a week....

I will have an 8 year old!!!! I am not sure where the time went.

Today Alex came home from school and his shoe broke. The strap on them was just worn out. So I took him to the mall to buy a new pair of shoes. He at first wanted a pair of Air Jordans..... Yea um NO.... LOL.... so then he asked for Heelys.... at first I said NO WAY.... but that did not last long..... I told him that I would get them for him for his birthday..... SUCKER MOM right here!!!!! Yep that is me!!!! LOL.... So tonight Alex was learning how to use his skate shoes LOL... he can't wait to keep trying them.... he can wear the shoes to school, but we have to take the wheels out and put in the heel plugs. That all will get old quick I am sure, but lets hope for no broken bones from Heelys!!!!

Life is good

Don't get me wrong, my life would be better if the hubby was home, but since he is not and this is our life, I will make the best out of it.
I have found a great set of friends. They have been there for me so much. Even in the smallest ways, it is great. Today I needed to go to the doc, the appt was for 230 pm, the kids get out of school at 215 pm, big problem when it takes you 15 mins to get to Tripler, another 15 mins to find parking and another 10 to 15 mins to walk from said parking spot, to Hospital to clinic..... HAHA no for real, I am serious it is a day trip.
So this appointment was very important, so I asked my friend if she could please pick up Alex, Kyle rode his bike to school today. She had no problem getting Alex for me, he then went to her neighbors house (Jeana was the one watching my kiddos, but Delinda was picking up her kids and knew the school better than Jeana to grab Alex) So homework got done with no issues tonight..... thanks to Jeana. Dinner was awesome and kids all played together. All the while I am with good people.... we have dubbed them the "COOL KIDS". Everyone comes over to just sit and talk and the kids all play.
They are my family right now and that makes me happy :)

So on top of all of that, I am loving all of the craft blogs I am finding. I have a great reading list everyday of new ideas. I need to finish the project I have going before I start anymore new ones. Plus I want to work with the stuff I have, instead of going out to buy more stuff for future projects, that I only sometimes get to. HAHA
Once I get through some of the baby gifts that I am working on, I am going to start Christmas gifts. I know it seems way to early, but I think I could really make everyone on my list a creative homemade gift this year. My only problem with that is I would want to give the gift as soon as it was made.....
I got my Cricut this week. I have played around with it a little. I was very sad when I learned the design studio that I bought, does in fact have access to all of the carts out there, but you have to have those carts to cut anything from them... so I can see what all they offer, but only cut with the ones I have. I wish the wording had been more clear about that, trust me I had checked that to make sure. BUT I have also found another program that lets you load your own stuff and cut that way.... but I am holding off on that one for now.
I bought paper, vinyl and markers for my Cricut. I have a lot of ideas of what I want to cut, and I even might start making cards.... as if I dont already have a 100 mile long list of things I want to make.
Then comes the sewing, I would love to get even better at it, and I know that all it takes is practice, but I need to really stop trying to want to do it all. I see so many things I want to make and then dont know where to start.
Well as for tonight, I am going to enjoy my Volcano Winery wine and my shows on my DVR, tomorrow for sure and for certain I am going to finish the baby gift I am working on, since I have a few new ones I need to start on :)
